Within the Business & Property Court, Alexander acts in a wide range of commercial disputes, including contract disputes, TOLATA claims, insolvency, debt recovery, sale of goods and services, guarantees and indemnities, partnership disputes, and costs. He understands the commercial realities of clients and delivers clear, business-relevant analysis and advice. He is a Deputy District Judge (BPC + Civil), a member of the Liverpool BPC Forum committee, and a member of the NCCBA.
In Employment law, he deals with all forms of discrimination, unfair dismissal, trade union disputes, TUPE, pension loss, and reasonable adjustments. Alongside his Tribunal experience, he has appeared in the Court of Appeal on the interpretation of national collective agreements between unions and employers.
He undertakes claimant asbestos litigation and regularly appears in the Asbestos and Mesothelioma lists. His personal injury practice includes fatal accident claims, conflict of laws, periodical payment orders, capacity and patient issues, JSMs, and Court of Protection matters.
Alexander is also a highly experienced advocate in inquests, instructed nationwide in respect of deaths arising in healthcare settings and Article 2 inquests involving deaths in state custody or arising out of police action. He has particular expertise in cases involving deaths in custody, mental health inpatients, police suspects, and notifiable diseases. He combines a knowledgeable, grounded, and sensitive approach with a strong understanding of prison and healthcare systems, policies, and procedures.
