Join Hundred Court Chambers
A progressive Northern set, we are always open to applications from barristers who will make us stronger.
Hundred Court Chambers is a common law set in the heart of Liverpool city centre’s thriving legal community, with considerable experience across civil, crime, family and commercial and chancery work. We are growing, and we want to hear from barristers who share our ambition to make Hundred Court the first-choice set for our current and future clients.
What you will find here
A collegiate culture. Members and staff work as one team, and everyone has a stake in where Chambers goes next. As a member you would be both encouraged, and expected, to contribute to our strategic conversation. Our plans for the future value everyone’s voice.
First-class clerking. Our clerking team is the engine of your practice. Together with our Chambers Director, they will make sure your career path is structured around your own ambitions, not a template.
Work of real quality. Our established client base spans every area of our practice, and in recent years members have appeared at every level of the court system, up to and including the Supreme Court.
A fee structure that works with your cash flow. Chambers’ charges are set at a competitive level. Beyond a modest fixed monthly fee, the greater part of what you pay is a percentage of your previous month’s receipts, so your contribution rises and falls with what you have actually been paid rather than leaving you to find a large, fixed rent in a quiet month.
Career development coaching, led by our Chambers Director in collaboration with our senior clerks.
Support for ambition, whether at the Bar or towards the bench. Amongst our members are Recorders, Deputy District Judges, Assistant Coroners and members of the Attorney General’s Panel.
A management team with a strategic vision for the future, complete IT support, and a home at Exchange Station in the centre of Liverpool.
Diversity, equality and inclusion are at the root of our ethos. We consider every application on an equal opportunity basis.
Two ways to join us
Established practitioners: tenancy
If you are an established barrister who feels that Hundred Court is the set that will let you satisfy your ambitions at the Bar, whilst contributing to our continuing growth, we would like to hear from you. We are always interested in prospective tenants who can bring greater strength to our team, in any of our practice areas.
Earlier in your career: probationary tenancy
We are currently inviting applications for probationary tenancy, with a view to full tenancy. We are particularly keen to hear from barristers with an interest in family and/or commercial law. Previous experience in these areas is not a prerequisite: you will be allocated a Chambers supervisor for your probationary period, and you will have the full support of our clerking team and Chambers Director from day one.
How to apply
Send a short introductory letter and your CV to recruitment@hundredcourt.co.uk. All applications are treated in the strictest confidence.
If you would like an informal conversation first, call Nick O’Neill, our Chambers Director, on 0151 242 0222.
