Govind is a specialist family practitioner with a particular emphasis on child care work. She represents local authorities, parents, the Official Solicitor, and children — including separate representation of competent children — at all court levels, including the Court of Appeal. She has extensive experience across all aspects of proceedings relating to children, encompassing both public and private law disputes.
In addition to his family law practice, Govind is regularly instructed in Court of Protection cases, dealing with the rights of vulnerable adults lacking capacity under the Mental Health Act 2005. These cases often involve family members, local authorities, healthcare bodies, the Official Solicitor, and the vulnerable adult themselves.

Govind’s Court of Protection work covers personal welfare applications (such as residence, contact, and complex care packages), deprivation of liberty applications in care homes or hospitals, authorisation of serious medical interventions, overlapping jurisdiction with Children Act 1989 decisions for 16- and 17-year-olds, contested deputyship applications, and property and affairs disputes involving access to supported living, residential care, or financial matters.
He has acted as Junior Counsel in highly complex and lengthy cases involving the death of a child, international jurisdictional disputes, and sexual abuse, often lasting over 15 days. His expertise spans fabricated or induced illness, sibling death, complex medical issues, wardship, immigration-related children’s cases, relocation disputes, adoption with an international element, and cases involving child cruelty or chastisement with an international or cultural dimension.
Govind also has significant experience representing parents with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, or severe mental health issues within children and Court of Protection proceedings.
