Matthew is a pre-eminent and highly sought-after barrister specialising in Chancery and Family Law, with expertise in professional negligence, property, probate, financial remedy, and private children cases. He is also instructed in the Court of Protection, the Coroners’ Courts, and in costs disputes. In addition to his practice, Matthew sits as a Justice of the Peace in the Adult Criminal Magistrates’ Court.

In Chancery work, Matthew undertakes all types of land and property disputes, equity and trusts, Inheritance Act claims, probate disputes, TOLATA applications, and professional negligence cases. He advises and drafts trust instruments, and is regularly instructed in the Court of Protection and Coroners’ Courts.
His family law practice is extensive. In financial remedy matters, he is instructed in high-value and complex cases involving multi-million-pound assets, professionals, and family businesses. He has expertise in offshore trusts, pensions, shareholdings, freezing orders, farms and partnerships, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, add backs, conduct arguments, and cases with international elements.
In private children cases, Matthew regularly deals with Child Arrangements Orders, findings of fact hearings, enforcement, contempt, domestic abuse, coercive control, parental alienation, special guardianship, relocation (domestic and international), Hague Convention cases, prohibited steps and specific issue orders, grandparents’ rights, shared care applications, and police disclosure issues. He is also instructed in non-molestation and occupation order applications.
